How the series odds are worked out

  1. We take each sportsbook's latest price for the next game, from before it starts. Every price includes a small cut for the bookmaker; we remove it, so the two teams' chances add up to 100%.
  2. If Pinnacle, the bookmaker we use as the reference, is among them, we use its number; otherwise the middle value across all the sportsbooks. With fewer than two sportsbooks we show nothing.
  3. Playing at home helps. We take that out to get how the two teams compare on a neutral floor, then play out every game left in the series, each at the home it is scheduled at, and add up every way each team can reach the wins it needs.
  4. Nobody knows exactly how much home court is worth, so we use two sensible values: one from past playoff prices, one from the 2026 regular season's home record (178 home wins, 152 losses). The two results are shown as a range, for example “Minnesota 71–75%”.
  5. How good is it? We checked the method on 72 past series (WNBA 2022–2025 and the last three NBA playoffs). The favourites won 53 of them, against 53.6 expected, so the percentages mean what they say. But it was no better at naming the winner than simply backing the team with home court.
  6. So this number is the betting market's view, shown for information. It is not our pick, and our picks never use it.
